Zero Driver Limited (Trading as D.A.D. – Dial a Driver) Terms and Conditions
(When you hire our service (in person, over the phone or online) you agree to these terms, conditions and privacy policy.)
Welcome to Zero Driver Limited, trading as D.A.D. – Dial a Driver (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This website, www.dialadriver.co.nz, is owned and operated by Zero Driver Limited.
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our services, including booking a driver to transport you and your vehicle to a designated destination. By hiring our services (in person, over the phone, or online), you (“Customer,” “you,” or “your”) agree to these Terms. We believe in providing excellent customer service and are committed to your satisfaction.
We believe in excellent customer service and satisfaction therefore all our drivers follow a strict code of conduct to make sure you and your vehicle arrive at the destination safe and sound. Should you have any complaints about your driver please do not hesitate to contact us.
- Services Provided
- D.A.D. – Dial a Driver connects you with experienced and qualified drivers to provide transportation services in your own vehicle within the Auckland region.
- Driver Qualifications and Responsibilities
- All drivers are over 25 years old, hold a full New Zealand driver’s license with a Passenger Endorsement (P endorsement), and comply with all New Zealand transport regulations.
- Drivers reserve the right to refuse service if:
- The customer is intoxicated.
- The vehicle is deemed unsafe or excessively dirty.
- The driver feels threatened, abused, or unsafe due to the customer’s or passengers’ behavior.
- Customer Responsibilities
- Vehicle Condition: Ensure your vehicle is tidy and free of excessive dirt or debris that could interfere with safe driving. Verify that your vehicle is in good working order, with a valid Warrant of Fitness (WOF) and registration.
- Insurance: Maintain full insurance coverage for your vehicle. Dial a Driver is not liable for any fines or damages due to vehicle defects.
- Smoking and Conduct: Refrain from smoking in the vehicle while the driver is present, in accordance with health and safety regulations. Respectful conduct towards drivers is required at all times.
- Service Area
- D.A.D. – Dial a Driver currently operates exclusively within the Auckland region. We may not accept jobs outside of Auckland without advance notice and additional charges may apply.
- Fees and Pricing
- Base Fare: A minimum fare of $70 applies to all bookings.
- Distance and Time Charges: Additional charges are calculated based on distance traveled and time taken, using Google Traffic API for route optimization. Prices may fluctuate based on traffic conditions at the time of booking.
- Extra Charges: Additional fees may apply for extra stops, waiting time, or if the job is outside the standard service area. For clarity purposes, if you request a job from Pukekohe (which is serviced by Auckland drivers) traveling to Pukekohe. A travel fee of $1.20 per KM from Auckland to starting/destination (whichever is closer) will apply.
- Soiling fee: A $150 soiling fee may be charged if a customer soils the vehicle.
- Payment Methods: Online bookings accept major credit and debit cards. Payments must be made upon booking confirmation. We also accept EFTPOS, cash (rounded to the nearest $5 for change), and invoicing for corporate accounts. Unpaid invoices may be referred to debt collection agencies.
- Price surge may apply. Price surge applies when the demand for drivers increases in order to meet the demand and keep providing the excellent service we charge extra. The price is decided on the spot by the driver providing the service and is kept reasonable. The price increases by a minimum of 25% and a maximum of 100% of the total cost.
- Price surge may also apply if you need the service after hours. Mostly, early in the mornings after 4:00 AM or Sundays (after 4:00 AM – 11:00 PM) as they are considered outside our working hours.
- Price surge doesn’t apply if you have made an advanced booking.
- Cancellation and Refund Policy
- Cancellations: Customers can cancel bookings at any time; however, cancellation fees may apply depending on the notice period.
- Refunds: All refunds are processed through your original payment method and may take up to 5-10 business days to appear in your account.
- Liability in Case of Accident or Damage
- Customer’s Insurance: The customer’s insurance policy will be the primary coverage for any damages resulting from an accident, provided the driver was operating the vehicle lawfully.
- Driver’s Liability: Drivers are personally liable for any excess fees associated with accidents where they are at fault, encouraging careful driving.
- Zero Driver LTD Liability: Zero Driver Limited will not be held liable for any damages or costs arising from an accident.
- Procedure in Case of Accident or Injury
In the event of an accident or injury, you must report it to Zero Driver Limited in writing within 24 hours.
- Privacy Policy
- We collect personal information (e.g., name, contact information, location) to deliver services, provide quotes, and for marketing purposes. We do not collect or store credit card information; all payments are processed by ANZ merchant & Stripe.
- Your personal information may be shared with:
- Driver partners for service provision.
- Law enforcement in case of incidents or complaints.
- Debt collection agencies in case of unpaid invoices.
- You have the right to access and correct your personal information. For details, please see our full Privacy Policy.
- Compliance
D.A.D. – Dial a Driver is a fully licensed business, and all drivers comply with New Zealand transport regulations and hold the necessary licenses and endorsements.
- Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms will be resolved through good faith negotiations. If unresolved, New Zealand law will govern, and disputes will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
- Changes to Terms
Zero Driver Limited reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Customers will be notified of any changes by updating this page. We recommend reviewing these Terms periodically.

- Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Zero Driver Limited regarding the use of our services. Any prior communications or representations are superseded by these Terms.
- Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
- Waiver
No waiver by Zero Driver Limited of any breach of these Terms shall be deemed a waiver of any subsequent breach.
