How exactly does the Dial a Driver service work?
We provide a professional designated driver to operate your personal vehicle and transport you safely to your destination. When you book, a two-driver team is dispatched: one qualified chauffeur drives you home in your own car, while a support chase-car follows behind to collect our driver at the end of the trip.
What are the minimum requirements for my vehicle to be driven?
To ensure the safety of our drivers and compliance with New Zealand regulations, your vehicle must be fully roadworthy. It must have a valid Warrant of Fitness (WOF), current registration, a sufficient amount of fuel to complete the journey, full insurance coverage, and be entirely free of mechanical defects.
What qualifications and screening do your drivers have?
Every D.A.D driver is at least 25 years old, holds a valid New Zealand full driver’s licence, and has undergone comprehensive NZ Police vetting and background screening. Furthermore, our drivers hold active Passenger (P) Endorsements, certifying their compliance with strict small passenger service transport regulations. What happens if there is an accident or damage during the trip?
By utilizing our service, you agree that your personal vehicle insurance acts as the primary and exclusive cover. Zero Driver Limited enforces maximum-liability protection under New Zealand law, meaning the customer retains full liability and responsibility for any insurance excess, vehicle damage, mechanical failure, or traffic infringements, regardless of fault.
Can a driver refuse or stop a service mid-ride?
Yes. Our drivers maintain the absolute right to refuse or immediately terminate service if passengers become aggressive, abusive, or unsafe; if anyone is completely unconscious or excessively intoxicated; if the vehicle is found to be unwarranted, unregistered, or mechanically unsafe; or if any illegal manoeuvres are requested. The driver’s safety assessment is final.
Do you provide child car seats or allow smoking in the vehicle?
No, we do not provide child restraints. If you are travelling with children, you must provide the legally required car seats. Additionally, for the health and safety of our team, smoking or vaping is strictly prohibited inside the vehicle by any passenger during the duration of the service.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
Cancellations are accepted at any time, though a call-out charge will apply if our driver team has already been dispatched to your location. Approved refunds are always processed back to your original payment method and typically take between 5 to 10 business days to clear.
